“We are not waiting on Washington,” Mayor Villaraigosa said. “With Congress failing to take action on jobs, my administration is taking steps right now to put people to work.”
After five years of the Villaraigosa administration's efforts, real unemployment in the City is estimated to be 20%.
Villaraigosa's presser adds that "his administration is pursuing a five-part strategy to create jobs. Those five steps are: (1) reforming LA’s business tax; (2) reducing red tape; (3) partnering with local businesses; (4) modernizing LAX and the Port of Los Angeles; and (5) building a 21st century rail network."
