UPDATE: A reader notes that the Cleghorn letter is posted in its entirety here.
Congress of Neighborhood Councils paladin Cindy Cleghorn has reportedly followed attorney Noel Weiss's blistering brief on a Samoa Avenue project with a scathing letter to her own Councilmember, Paul Krekorian.
The letter stands as a veritable testament to the double-dealing troubles Neighborhood Councils and other community groups encounter when working with the City on 1818-styled affordable housing projects.
Highlights from Cleghorn's scathing letter:
- Cleghorn claims that, should the City issue bond-backed financing on behalf of an affordable housing project on Samoa Avenue, Krekorian's office will have broken a promise it made to the community as recently as April 8.
- Cleghorn calls on Krekorian to halt City-backed financing of this project, slated for Tuesday and reportedly for as much as $13 million.
- Cleghorn calls out Krekorian for delivering something less than "government at your doorstep" to Sunland-Tujunga.
