It's hard to imagine a life without seeing either Figaro or Don Giovanni at least once. But the third and final Mozart-Lorenzo Da Ponte collaboration, Cosi Fan Tutte, had a sphere of opera buffa influence that rivals both. It doesn't come to LA very often, but LA Opera has a new, intelligent production of Cosi at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion running through October 8. I reviewed Cosi at LA Opus--now in its fifth year of bringing critical review of classical music to our readers--and I hope you'll be able to catch it while it's still running.
