Public funding, private stats at Engine28
The twinned theater festivals in town RADAR LA and Hollywood Fringe have concluded, and Engine28, the USC Annenberg-run online site that aspired to be the last word on contemporary theater over the past week, has offered no statistics on traffic to the site.
When the National Endowment for the Arts sponsors other kinds of arts programs, it asks for house numbers and other statistical measures to evaluate success, and these become part of a public record. Engine28 should similarly publish its web stats over the past six days.
