Today the Rudy Martinez cheerleaders at the rightie blog MayorSam published campaign-sensitive polling documents from Councilman Jose Huizar's re-election effort.
Or did they?
They certainly weren't fresh docs--over two months old, in fact--and...
A close look at the docs reveals that some headers on some pages have the letter "B" substituted in table heads. For instance, on page 3, "Boters" appears instead of "Voters" and "Buizar" replaces "Huizar." E.g...
Why the "B", the consistent typo on page 3?
I would guess that the docs, long ago worthless to the Huizar camp, but still unseen by all but a few, were altered and recently sent to the same distribution list that was sent Mike Trujillo's notorious happy hour memo of a month ago--maybe this time by snail mail. And I would guess that each doc sent out was coded slightly differently to each recipient, with a different erring letter identifying each.
Giving all suspects a slightly-differently modified document is one way to locate a mole: whichever altered doc surfaces, there's your mole. In this case a doc coded "B" on page 3 surfaced.
There were over twenty recipients of the original happy hour memo; neatly, one for nearly every letter of the alphabet.
