Trutanich has been complaining about his staff being shrunk by L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and this [locking up protesters without a permit] is how he wants to use his precious resources?&c. Trutanich might yet get a chance to learn at the feet of the longtime master of protest suppression, as Hosni Mubarek is reported to own property in Beverly Hills.
Nuch said the protests had cost the city thousands of dollars in police response.
But it'll cost many, many more thousands to prosecute and jail the protesters, won't it?
But Mubarek's ultimate lesson should be that when you try to bottlecap protest, it just ends up all the more certain to blow later.
