In CD 14 race, it's Zahniser who comes out weak

I don't know that this article is really fair--to either candidate in CD 14. Granted, Rudy Martinez bizarrely brought things up last night that were more blogosphere chat than campaign accustion. Granted, nobody really understands what the hell the people at the Weekly and other rightwing orgs are talking about when they talk about Jose Huizar and CLARTS. The LATimes post by David Zahniser, however, seems simply a hit-piece on Martinez, almost a bitchslap, as though he were expecting more from the challenger camp, and was angered that it didn't come, so he decided to turn bully.

While Martinez has run a very bizarre campaign--he knows far more about the way the City works than has been evident, and compounding matters, he has only reached out to dead-enders--it was entirely inappropriate for David Zahniser to turn his version of the race into an indictment of Martinez's character. It would have been easier, far more fair, and even far more accurate to report that Huizar has been coddled and Martinez has no message, than to ask the loaded Rovian question, how often do you beat your wife. For me, the guy who lost this forum was neither candidate, but David Zahniser.
