A Wrinkle in Time
While it may come from a politically mercurial position nearly as uneven as the one he's assailing, I do think Ron Kaye is pretty much dead-on accurate in this piece on Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. And I say that from the left. The Mayor, despite the crying in various progressive beers around town, is all hat and no cattle, even now, so very far into his tenure of office. From the left, he has only been inconsistent at best as a supporter of organized labor, as well as an inconsistent supporter of green causes. He has really not thrown his weight behind any cause at all, in fact, excepting the cause of Antonio Villaraigosa, serial adulterer, checked-out lame duck, Beutner enabler, DWP stooge, &c, and still he wants us to forget that as he attempts to put a wrinkle in time and tessar to the next level.
When Antonio Villaraigosa decided not to run for Governor, I simply declared victory at last. Would that it had been! Later, when the City first sincerely approached bankruptcy, it was time to come back and demand his resignation. We in the City should continue to demand that resignation, the resignation of this supreme charlatan, friend to nobody but himself, who still won't talk to real journalists and real writers, even after nearly six years in office.
