Heather King, Casbah Cafe, Feb 2008
With all those counterfeit Christians around, the craven types who patronizingly announce they're praying for you and everyone else you know even as they disseminate as much darkness and depravity as they can...
...it is a pleasure to encounter the relatively new and ceaselessly uplifting blog of my friend Heather King.
Begun in August, the blog often celebrates the exceptional lives of people we might otherwise deem "ordinary."
Heather is a reformed attorney, a Catholic convert and a cancer survivor who returned to LA in August of this year after some time away. I last saw her the Thursday before she left on a cross-country odyssey that took her to some exceedingly remote points in Texas, West Virginia, and especially within her own interior. I'm guessing a book will come of this experience.
If you find you want even more Heather, I think you'll ultimately consider her book Redeemed: A Spiritual Misfit Stumbles Toward God, Marginal Sanity, and the Peace That Passes All Understanding, now in paperback. I wrote about Heather and Redeemed in early 2008, and have referred it to many people since then.
I'm hoping we can catch up again soon; the city is easily a better place with Heather back in it.
