Or....Game Over, Goldberg!
The Mayor's beer-swilling developer doormat from San Diego, Gail "GPS" Goldberg, a woman who knew almost nothing about the City of Los Angeles before her appointment yet had the arrogance to take its top land use job, is resigning her post as Planning GM. She will leave at the end of August.
Among Goldberg's astonishing legacy of ineptitude was the placement of zoning easement request forms in Council field offices, and bringing in Ken Bernstein to operate a six-person Office of Historic Resources, which perfectly duplicated the work of the City's Cultural Heritage Commission, but was even more inept at permitting.
She also slow-tracked various community master plans that were subsequently ignored by her own Planning Department.
Noted: In January 2008, the planning chief's inability to get to Los Feliz from downtown without a map earned her the nickname Gail "GPS" Goldberg.
Noted II: The Oracle on the Terrace, a longtime critic, foresaw Goldberg leaving this year, but in October.
Noted III: Non sequitur, but worth a click: Chief Parker's "Game Over, Breakballs!" a similarly-themed post that plainly set the tone of political discourse at MayorSam for years to come.
