Still more clownish behavior for Carmen Trutanich, the City Attorney who either doesn't seem to know how the law works or doesn't care how it works. Perhaps he has never heard of the "excessive bail" clause of the Eighth Amendment--can it be?
His office has reduced Kayvan Setareh's misdemeanor bail to from a million to $100,000 pending Setareh's immediate removal of the sign.
That suddenly implies coercion by bail, and Trutanich may now face rebuke because of this flaunting of a Constitutional right.
Equally bizarrely, the Times invites both its remaining readers to debate whether an utterly unconstitutional practice is a good one.
